How does Offline Mode work?

What's the purpose of the tick box 'Use Offline' on the Booker & the SkyTouch login?

Basically this creates a 'session' local db per user. The actions through the Booker, or SkyTouch (the Windows Apps), are then written primarily into this local .mdb and then syncs to the cloud database.

The sync settings and timers are accessed via the Settings and then the Offline Mode in the Windows apps.

Access to the settings is controlled by the User's Permissions.

If there is NO INTERNET at all, the system will function in Offline Mode, but will not be able to send email notifications or receive updates from the internet.

If there is slow internet then the sync may time out before it is able to complete and the user is recommended to go 'Direct to Web'.

There is a setting in the Database dbo.databasesettings where you can set Force Offline to True or False.  This can be Inserted by Safetynet Tech if not present.

Offline mode will be fully retired by end of 2024.

This is because fast, business quality internet is more widely available than it was when SkyVisitor was first launched (2012) and it's purpose has become less relevant. It also creates another copy of data which needs to be listed for GDPR - and this could be classed as unnecessary.
